Hello everyone! Here I come with yet another book tag. Only, this time it’s an ORIGINAL!!!! How awesome, right?
First of all I’d like to thank Katie, of Katsyxo, for the help coming up with the questions for this tag. Now, on to my answers…
1. Ace of Shades takes place in the very mysterious, very dangerous City of Sin. Name a fictional city with a personality of it’s own!
Strange the Dreamer is a magical read, and so is it’s main setting: The city of Weep. There are so many elements to this story that make it the masterpiece it is, I really can’t even begin to describe it. If you haven’t read this book yet, I recommend you pick it up asap!
2. The City of Sin is home to three ruthless gangs: the Irons, the Scarhands and the Doves. Tell us about your favorite fictional criminal character/family/group!
I’m gonna go with my boy Aiden for this one. He is the softest of criminals, and I love him with all my heart.
3. Enne and Levi are about to be thrown into a deadly game… Name your favorite book in which the characters must play with, and for, their lives.
Listen, I know it’s a cliche, but I adored The Hunger Games. It’s a lot more layered than people give it credit for, with important discussions regarding media and showing poverty as not only violence, but also as a result of the greed of the rulling class, which very few YA books do. I love this one a lot.
4. The Doves are a gang of assassins… What book you’d kill to have in your hands right now?
Right now i’m really waiting for many, many books, but the one that is constantly on my mind is Piper Vaughn and Santino Hassell’s Bishop’s Move, which is a scifi/romance combo with great MCs and I NEED IT. It does not yet have a cover!
5. The City of Sin is full of people with dark and complicated pasts. Name one book or book series you used to like, but don’t anymore.
Listen, this series started out good, with a bisexual, at the very least coded-biracial MC witch who was discriminated against for being half white witch, half black witch. It could have gone somewhere truly great and yet… The last book of the series was a trainwreck, going for the “colorblind” approach to its own racism allegory, and going for the BYG (bury your gays) trope. It’s a no from me, thanks.
6. With complicated pasts abound, we can find many… burnt cinnamon rolls, so to speak. Name a character that has prickly and tough exterior, but is actually a sweetheart deep down!
Ok, going for one of the ultimate burnt cinnamon rolls around, i gotta say Gavin Brawley, from Santino Hassell’s The Barons series.
7. Not only anti-heroes live in the Ace of Shades world! In New Reynes, one can find plenty of villains as well. Which bookish character do you just love to hate?
That’s kind of a tough one for me because i’m not usually a villain person, but for now i’m gonna go with Beitech, the huge interplanetary corporation responsible for all the pain and chaos of the Illuminae Chronicles. What is more hateful than a big corporation, after all?
8. You, much like our main character Enne’s mother, went missing in the City of Sin. The main character from the last book you read is the one looking for you… How screwed are you?
I frankly don’t know. Angelo and Dylan are both protective little shits, so I have a feeling they wouldn’t rest until they found me. Still, I’m not sure how well they’d do against the dangers of the City Of Sin.

Aye, that’s a nice tag! Have yet to read Ace of Shades but I guess this tag is making me want to read it now XD I love Hunger Games, too. It’s a bit underrated if you ask me. It’s a shame I haven’t yet read Strange The Dreamer!! I’ve heard such good things about it, I’m definitely gonna pick it up this year. 😀
